Mayor Vanessa Fleisch called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Other Council Members attending: Terry Ernst, Eric Imker, Mike King, and Kim Learnard. The purpose of the special called meeting was to hold a public hearing on the 2015 millage rate. Financial Services Director Paul Salvatore said this was the second of three required public hearings regarding the proposed tax increase. He explained that the operations & maintenance (M&O) millage rate would stay at 6.756 mills, and the bond millage rate would be reduced from 0.332 mills to 0.314 mills. Salvatore said the millage rate was advertised as tax increase because there had been an increase in the assessed value of properties. Property owners had seen an average increase in assessed values of real property in the City for 2015 of 9.5%. That translated to $2.79 for every $1,000 that the Fair Market Value of a property had increased. Salvatore said the average home price in the City was$260,000, and the increase to the average tax bill would be $60. Mayor Fleisch opened the public hearing. No members of the public spoke either for or against the proposed tax rate. The public hearing closed. No action by Council was required. Fleisch noted that earlier in the day, realtor.com had published a report on the top ZIP codes in the country, based on income, employment, and the speed at which homes sold in comparison to the national average between January and June of 2015. Peachtree City ranked 41. Salvatore agreed that was good news about the local economy. There being no further business, Learnard moved • .0journ the meeting. Ernst seconded.
