AIRPORT AUTHORITY MEETING MINUTES OF MEETING October 21, 1987 A meeting of the Airport Authority was held in the meeting room at the Peachtree city Library at 7:07 PM on October 21, 1987. Those members present were Mr. D. Good, Mr. R. McDaniel, Mr. R. McDaniel, Ms. V. Brigham and attorney, Mr. Doug Warner. MINUTES The minutes motion was approve the of the meeting of April 15, 1987 were reviewed. A made by Mr. McDaniel, seconded by Ms. Brigham to minutes as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. ~ " , },: REVIEW OF AEROSPEC SITE PLAN Mr. Barry Amos, the Cify Engineer was in attendance to present the site Plan for the Airport Authority's review. Mr. Amos told the Authority that the Planning commission had made an approval of the site Plan contingent upon the review and approval from the Airport Authority. Mr. Amos told the Authority two-story building. It will have northern end of the property. The attorney for the Authority, Mr. Doug Warner, mentioned that it ma~ not be appropriate for the Airport Authority to approve or d1sapprove any site Plan. He stated the Airport Authority's charter did not provide for approval authority. that the building is to be a access to the Airport from the A motion was made by Mr. Desch, seconded b~ Mr. McDaniel to submit a letter to the Planning Commiss1on stating that the Airport Authority had reviewed the site Plan, and had found nothing detrimental to the current plans for Falcon Field. They would also like the Planning Commission to consider the potential danger of the vehicular access road to the ramp area. This motion was carried unanimously. f"""\ r , ~ , F L ) Airport Authority October 21, 1987 Page 2 APPOINT MEMBER TO IMPACT FEE COMMITTEE: Mr. Desch made a motion to recommend Ms. Vicki Brigham to be appointed as the Airport Authority representative to serve on the Impact Fee study Committee. Mr. Price seconded this motion and it was unanimously adopted to appoint Ms. Brigham to this Committee. Chairman Good instructed the City Engineer, Mr. Barry Amos, to send a letter recommending Ms. Brigham to the Impact Fee study Committee. STATUS OF GRANT REQUEST Chairman Good told the other members that as far as he knew, the grant was coming along through the proper procedures and channels. He said there was no way expedite the process but that the individuals he has talked with felt convinced that the grant would be approved. The Airport Authority recessed to Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter. EXECUTIVE SESSION: No action was taken in Executive Session. Chairman Good reconvened the meeting. MISCELLANEOUS Unexpired Term of Robert Desch: Mr. Robert Desch told the Authority that because transfer, he would have to resign from the Airport effective on November 1, 1987. of a job Authority, Airport Authority October 21, 1987 Page 3 MISCELLANEOUS continued Chairman Good told the Authority that the vacant position would have to be advertised in the newspapers. He instructed the City Engineer to place the necessary ads in the local newspapers and to also include it in the quarterly "Update In Peachtree City" with the cut-off date of November 16, 1987. The resumes are to be mailed to the Municipal Building and to be addressed to the Airport Authority. Reappointment of Ralph McDaniel: Chairman Good told the other members that Mr. McDaniel's term was up for reappointment. He asked Mr. McDaniel if he would like to be considered for the reappointment. Mr. McDaniel said that he has very muchen~oyed serving on the Airport Authority and would like to be cons1dered for the reappointment. A motion was made by Mr. Price, seconded by Ms. Brigham and was unanimously ado~ted to reappoint Mr. Ral~h McDaniel to the Airport Author1ty for another term. Cha1rman Good instructed Mr. Amos to send the recommendation on to City Council reappointing Mr. McDaniel to the Authority. Low Flying Airplanes: Mr. Desch told the Authority that many people have complained to him about low-flying airplanes in the area. He mentioned that he himself has seen the airplanes. Mr. Desch asked if the Authority had any way of seeing that this does not hap~en because of the potential danger involved. He also asked 1f the Authority could recommend to Mr. Jim Holder about having the traffic pattern changed in order to prevent this. Another suggestion was to place sig~s on the run-way stating the re9Uirements of pilots concern1ng flying low. The suggest10n was to have the Airport Authority purchase the signs and to have Mr. Holder place these signs at the most strategic points on the run-way. Airport Authority October 21, 1987 Page 4 MISCELLANEOUS continued It was recommended that Ms. Brigham will decide on the wording that would be on the si~n and to have Chairman Good send a letter to Mr. Holder express~ng the views and concerns of the Airport Authority about the signs and the low flying planes and to ask for his assistance in the matter.
