10-05-1994 Regular Meeting ,.-., PEACHTREE CITY AIRPORT AUTHORITY MINUTES OF MEETING October 5, 1994 The regular meeting of the Peachtree City Airport Authority was held in the City Hall Council Chambers on October 5, 1994, at 7 p.m. Those present were: Chairman David M. Good; Members Vivian R. Brigham, Michael E. Amos, and Robert B. Patterson; Airport Manager James H. Savage; Authority Attorney Douglas B. Warner. Member Daniel E. Carr was absent. I. ANNOUNCEMENTS Ms. Brigham read a letter of thanks from the educational staff at Whitewater Middle School for their recent use of the Native Indian display developed from artifacts found on Peachtree City-Falcon Field Airport. II. ADDITIONAL AGENDA ITEMS None. ~ III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion to approve the minutes of the August 10, 1994 Authority meeting as presented was made by Mr. Amos and seconded by Ms. Brigham. The motion passed unanimously. IV. REPORTS Airport Manager: Mr. Savage briefed the Authority on the following issues: 1. The FAA completed a routine flight check of the localizer on September 19. The system continues to operate normally since being returned to service after the July 4, flood damage. 2. On September 22, striping crews working for the Georgia Department of Transportation re-striped the center line and runway identifier numbers on the runway. This was done at no cost to Authority. The runway was closed from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. to accomplish this work. .~ " , 1 1 ~ 3. The Authority had a recent request from the production company filming "Andersonville", to ask pilots in the area to avoid flying over their movie set 5 miles west of Senoia. They film every day except Thursday and will continue to do so until December. Apparently the noise from the aircraft affects the sound track. We have asked the flight school and the FBO to ask pilots to comply. 4. The Toy Box, Inc. recently placed Levalor mini-blinds in the windows of the office area. The cost to add them to the Authority's office was $272.00. They were installed on September 28, and reduce the late afternoon sun glare significantly and add a finished look to the windows. 5. Stevens Aviation posted a monthly record in fuel sales during September. Our invoice to Stevens for fuel purchases that month was for over $47,000, or nearly double their monthly average. We have encouraged them to keep up the good work. 6. The Authority received a final payment from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) for damages incurred to the localizer equipment during the July 4, flood. The check for $2,974.25 plus the original check of $21,534.75 brings the balance of emergency funding to $24,509.00, or 100% of the flood damage repair costs, plus a 3% administration fee. ~ 7. On Saturday, September 24, the Fayette County Republican Party held a "fly-in" for Senator Paul Coverdell at the Toy Box hangar. Mr. Good and myself attended to meet and greet the many local politicians in attendance, including Congressman Mac Collins. Approximately 50 people attended to hear Senator Coverdell and Congressman Collins brief the group on recent events on Capital Hill. We also took the opportunity to thank the Senator and Congressman for their recent efforts to pass Airport Improvement Program legislation, which has funded most of the major construction accomplished on the airport. V. OLD AGENDA ITEMS None t-" 2 """"' VI. NEW AGENDA ITEMS 94-10-01 Consider construction of a new 14 bay T-hangar.
