10-14-2002 Special Called Workshop PEACHTREE CITY AIRPORT AUTHORITY MINUTES OF SPECIAL CALLED WORKSHOP ,..... October 14,2002 A Special Called Workshop of the Peachtree City Airport Authority was held in the Conference Room at the Aviation Center, 7 Falcon Drive, Peachtree City, Georgia, on October 14, 2002, at 6:00 p.m. Those present for the Authority were Chairman Catherine M. Nelmes; Member Mark H. Harris; and Airport Manager James H. Savage. Also attending were Mr. Stan Smith and Mr. Jim Toombs, tenants, and Mr. Chris Clark, Fayette County Development Authority. Guest Speaker was Mr. Robert Kennedy, Director of Marketing, Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport. Members: H.E. Buffington; Jerry R. Cobb and Douglas A. Fisher were absent. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss marketing ideas for Peachtree City - Falcon Field Airport. ,-.., f , Prior to Mr. Kennedy's arrival, Mr. Clark reviewed his report on the need to develop a "Marketing Program of Work" that would better manage the identity, help market the facilities and increase citizen "ownership" of Peachtree City - Falcon Field by creating a unique partnership with aviation related companies located in the area to promote "Aviation Clusters." These business clusters would help existing companies benefit from association with similar businesses to help leverage resources to achieve mutual goals, improve services and the cross-sale of parts and materials, and to attract new businesses with similar goals. Chairman Nelmes outlined several steps that the Authority will be taking by January of next year to start the cluster efforts. Mr. Kennedy joined the discussion about 7:00 p.m. due to a miscommunication regarding the starting time of the meeting. He reviewed how his department operates at Atlanta Hartsfield and began a round table discussion on questions and ideas on how the Authority could best market the airport to the public. Mr. Kennedy outlined his ideas by stating that the Authority should: (1) Determine what it wants the airport to be. ' (2) Identify current and future resources. (3) Develop and implement a marketing strategy. Several ideas surfaced during discussions, including the idea of adding marketing information to the airport's web site, changing the web site's name to make access to the public easier and approaching the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism's aviation specialist for marketing ideas. ,....., There were no formal actions taken by the Authority during the workshop and at 8:40 p.m., all present agreed that the informal meeting had been useful, and by acclamation the meeting ::r~( Attested by: W Catherine M.
